Yoga

Yoga is a sanskrit word that means “to yoke” or “union”.

Nangpa CommUnity honors the Hatha Yoga tradition offering opportunities to re-connect  the body and the mind while practicing asanas (yoga postures), breathing exercises and meditation.

We offer multilevel classes open to people from all ages, gender or physical abilities.  Great for beginners.

Meditation

Meditation comes for latin “meditatus” “to think or reflect, to consider, to contemplate”

There are different kind of meditation practices. Nangpa CommUnity encourages society to practice Mindfulness. Mindfulness is a mental training that invites practitioners to connect the body, mind and intention by focusing on simple objects while sitting still for short periods of time. We offer free weekly sessions to practice meditation online and on pop-up events. Basic instructions are provided, no experience is needed.

About us

We believe everybody should be able to practice Yoga and to keep a regular meditation practice, to receive clear instructions, to keep developing skills, and to share the joy of it with others.

Nangpa CommUnity was born with that intention in April 2019.

The first official event was offered online during January 2021. It was a Meditation Marathon or “Meditathon”. People across the USA, Mexico, and 3 other countries gathered daily to support each other as well as our individual practice by meditating at the same time.

Nangpa is a Tibetan word, it means someone who looks within themselves for the answers to external problems.

While holding a CommUnity, we aim to provide a safe space to people with little, advanced, or no experience at all. We believe that sharing a fellowship makes an inward journey easier. We invite people to adopt self-care practices regardless of their current situation. With discipline and healthy habits, it is easier to re-Unite the body, speech, and mind.

The Nangpa CommUnity project was founded by Gabriela Tobias. She took a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training and personal transportation program in Body & Soul Wellness Center and Spa in Dubuque, Iowa (USA). She is in constant training, but she also thinks the best way to learn is by practicing and sharing experiences with others.

Gabriela has attended and organized Women Circles in Mexico and the USA since 2013. She has also offered Wisdom Circles and Drumming Circles. Currently guiding a weekly meditation session online.

We are happy to help
